The Bichon Frisé was first registered in SA in 1978 and is one of the largest breeds classified in the Toy group. The breed is said to have been brought to the European continent from the Canary Islands.

The earliest recorded registration of a Cavalier in SA was in 1955. A descendant of the Toy Spaniels of the 16th century, the breed was once agreat favourite with royalty.

Initially registered in South Africa in 1938, the Chihuahua is the world’s smallest dog. There are several theories concerning his country of origin.
